He then released Mass in C Minor in Salzburg, which would become one of his most endearing compositions.

The Enlightenment period affected his composition as much as music he had heard in England and Paris as a younger artist. The writing of the Requiem was said to take place amidst his failing health and was written for his own self – although this report has been debated.
